so... what's this dnb 'fashion' then? that's all I was asking.

for the younger kids, I remember it being all about camo & wooden beads, 2 things I never really dug.

I remember camo+wooden beads were the raver side of dnb. if you were a raver junglist you had to have those.

there definitely is a style, kind of mixed in with hip hop, but not. I really tend to think more european urban/hip hop style.

I'm not fashion expert, but i do know when there is a fashion out there.

just like jam band scene has a certain style to it.

oh yeaz.

festies are fun btw.

a few days of camping with some good friends n getting fucked up, and hearing some decent musc. nothing wrong with that. I like the events. camping out, n all that, but the music just gets to me.

I think it all came down to going to a phish show back in i think 98 or 99? i got freaked out by a bearded hippy in a dress. my life will never be the same after that.

Surprised

things are different now, but when I first started going to raves... at least 98% of the people were flying high on several different drugs. these days, alcohol is mainly the drug of choice.

I think mushroom tea, some heady nuggets & a few good beers is far better than all the chemicals, but that's just me.

Also, again... you're mostly describing 'lot kids'.

lol, ok. I'm sure the people you know are representative of the 45-50,000 people that attend. b/c, you know, we're all the same!

also, as for EDM there... not sure what you like, but there's tons of breaks, jungle, electro, dubstep, trip-hop, etc. everything from big name DJs to 'locals' from all around the globe. you'd be hard pressed to find anything else on the planet w/ that much variety of electronic music IMO.

alcohol is a 'drug' too, and is far more dangerous IMO.

and I enjoy music with or without being intoxicated.

but it's a social drug, as well as socially and legally accepted.

mushrooms and marijuana aren't very social drugs. makes people zombies and think things that aren't true:P

it all depends on setting. they can be very social drugs, if you're with intelligent people.

if you're just going out to a club to pick up chicks, probably better off w/ booze.

I dont like this elitism of drugs "if you're with intelligent people it can be social" sounds like a crock of hsit.

I've never heard anyone on mushrooms say anything intelligent, really just pseudo intellectual ego filled bullshit...Surprised

saying that marijuana isn't a social drug is doing the same thing.

maybe you've only smoked with boring people.

anyway, back to the original topic.. in my own observation, the 'hipsters' around here seem to consist largely of two different groups.
one of them is mainly older heads that are into more avant-garde music & art, kinda wfmu-esque, generally really cool peeps, that many ppl today would label 'hipster' just b/c they don't follow any corporate fashion trend & enjoy vintage clothing.
the other group is the one that probably annoys people more, the kind of douches that try way too hard to look like they didn't try at all & think everything they do is so 'cool', especially if isn't. they really don't bother me, but when parties have too large a percentage of them, the vibe tends to suffer, b/c they don't really bring much energy. probably just coke. and shitty beer.
